Light fixture and bulbs used (2x T5 14w per system)
Testing if it works
Water pumps used (Hailea HX-2500). Example: http://www.hg-hydroponics.co.uk/hailea-hx-2500-650lph-water-pump-2219-p.asp

Getting the plumbing components
Assembling the lighting rig for all three systems
Overview of pots, pumps, bulkhead fittings, standpipes and connectors used
All lights seem to be working
Fresh urine for later reference
Added bulkhead fittings after drilling holes to the grow boxes
Connected standpipes to the bulkhead fittings. Later we would find out we needed to add some tape in between since the standpipe would otherwise be too loose, float up, and get clay in it, blocking the tube and flooding the whole system.
Water reservoir lid with a hole drilled for the return pipe from the bulkhead fitting to return the water.
Close-up of the bulkhead fitting entering the lid hole.
Starting to fill grow boxes with hydrocorn (expanded clay).
Approximately 300mL of urine being aged for cycling purposes.

System assembled and working!
View from the top with the light rig in view
Side view. Everything is working, the water is moving, and it is time to begin cycling.
Some of the seedlings we will add once they grow. They are being grown in a seedling tray with Root!t cubes in a nutrient solution.
Example of the cycling amount of aged urine. Notice the difference in color from the original fresh urine.
After a while we started noticing white dots in the top layer of hydrocorn, indicated either fungal growth or crystal/salts build-up.
Turns out the system took only 1 week to cycle (High nitrate readings and minimal ammonia and nitrite readings), probably due to the fact that some of the hydrocorn had been used for previous projects before, thus containing some nitrifying bacteria.
Side view with all the salads added. Now begins the process of dosing with the different dosages, and recording the results.
